John was one of the UK's earliest social entrepreneurs. A qualified social worker he has worked extensively in social and community regeneration projects across the UK and Europe.

He has an active interest in issues affecting the lives of older people and those with disabilities, particularly  access to services, facilities and employment. He is committed to campaigning for better access to local public transport and infrastructure, particularly Flitwick and Harlington railway stations, and for greater awareness of the needs and rights of people without access to the internet. He wants to see greater accessibility to Central Bedfordshire and other public services within Flitwick, particularly in the context of the massive growth of housing and increase in traffic over the past few years.

Jack was born and raised in Flitwick and has lived there his whole life. He understands matters important to residents, having attended local schools and regularly using Flitwick’s public services. He also has been actively involved with the community engaging with local sports clubs and volunteering. Currently, he studies Environmental Management with Business at university.

One of his major aims is to protect and promote Flitwick’s green spaces and ensure that these are accessible to all people. He would also like to ensure that the views of young people are listened to on the Council. In addition, he believes Flitwick should be effectively represented on Central Bedfordshire Council and that local people must have a voice to create change in their community on all issues, including potholes, sustainable development and youth services.

Richard was born and raised in Glasgow and has a variety of public service work experience including spells in Social Security, National Savings, the Health Service Commissioner’s Office, staff welfare work and personnel management in HM Customs & Excise. He moved to Flitwick almost 20 years ago.

After retiring he became involved in local matters, becoming a Magistrate in Bedford, being elected to Flitwick Town Council and joining the local surgery’s Patient Participation Group. He remains very interested in health matters and looks forward to Central Beds Council’s greater involvement in joined-up health and social care services . The need for good rural transport links, and for step-free access across the network, are two of Richard's particular interests.
